However, due to the significant differences in structure and properties between sand and resin, they are not easy to form chemical bonds, nor can they penetrate and dissolve each other. They mainly rely on the intermolecular attraction at the interface. Therefore, simply increasing the area and quantity is not enough. In casting materials, coupling agents are usually used to enhance the bonding effect, that is, to enhance the bonding force between the resin mold and sand interface. The addition of silane coupling agent can not only improve the strength of resin sand, but also organically combine the resin and sand particles through chemical reactions. At the same time, it reduces the total gas generation of the resin, reduces defects such as porosity in castings, improves the high-temperature performance and thermal stability of resin sand, and effectively improves the quality of castings and reduces costs. The coupling agents commonly used in the casting industry are CY-602, CY-550, CY-560, etc. As for situations where strength requirements are not very high, some high boiling compounds of aminosilane have also been widely used in cost reduction considerations.
